I met her one afternoon drifting above a coral shelf, barely moving, basking in shafts of light. I didn’t name her then—but later, while painting her, she became Mabel. This watercolor is a portrait of that moment: one green sea turtle gliding through clear turquoise shallows, caught between motion and meditation.
