Art has always provided for me an avenue of escape from the world. As a child I was both inquisitive and restless. I always had a pencil or Crayola and paper nearby. Through drawing, painting and playing with clay I explored my world. This play through art my active mind was afforded with an outlet for my imagination as well as giving my restless hands an opportunity to create something I loved. Both through direct observation and by studying the illustrations I viewed in the children’s books I read, I started to learn how to represent on a piece of paper, the world around me and in my mind. This has become a life long narrative in my life, my desire to arouse, delight, and tell a story, explain an idea through the creation of art.
Waves is the current theme that I'm exploring through my art. My watercolor and mixed-media paintings seek to capture the beauty and power of these moving mountains of water. I seek to explore the craft of painting as much as the subject matter being portrayed . I experiment with the brush work , texture of the material being painted on , the color scheme with consideratlion given to saturation , light, transparency to paint an image that expresses my craft an evocative and compelling way. I intend each of my paintings to invoke feelings of wonder and delight , to this end I present to you my work, enjoy!
